The Story Behind Wu Tattoo Clothing

From design to skin. From skin to clothing and accessories.

Behind Wu Tattoo Clothing is Rudy, better known by his artist name: Grumpy.

A tattoo artist since 2013, his passion for tattooing began in 2000 when he first walked through the doors of a tattoo studio. This experience marked the beginning of a true obsession with art in all its forms.

Over the years, he explored various artistic mediums: graffiti, painting, watercolor, and drawing. However, he didn't immediately pursue an artistic career. Holding a DEC in accounting and finance, he worked for several years in this field before spending nearly six years as the financial director of a humanitarian organization, which led him to travel to several African countries.

Despite this professional background, his passion for art and tattooing never left him. Every free moment was dedicated to creating, drawing, and developing his artistic vision.

In 2013, he finally decided to follow his passion and opened a tattoo studio with the person who, thirteen years earlier, had ignited his love for tattooing. From then on, he devoted himself entirely to his art.

Always drawn to the abstract, the trash movement, and watercolor, he gradually developed a personal style by merging the influences of Trash Polka with the energy and fluidity of watercolor. This approach gave birth to a distinctive visual universe that continues to evolve today.

Since then, he has relentlessly created works that he transposes onto the skin of his clients. But for him, art does not stop at tattooing.

His creations also come to life in the form of clothing, art prints, badges, digital files, and creative tools for other artists. It is from this vision that Wu Tattoo Clothing was born.

A fan of rap, hip-hop, and underground culture since a young age, Rudy grew up with the music of a group that profoundly influenced his imagination: the Wu-Tang Clan. This influence gave rise to Wu Tattoo Connection, and then Wu Tattoo Clothing, a brand where tattooing, art, streetwear, and underground culture meet.

More than a clothing brand, Wu Tattoo Clothing is the extension of an artistic journey built over more than twenty-five years.
